Growing in my polytunnel right now are these beetroot I planted from seed what feels like ages ago. They've suddenly taken off and I'll be harvesting some soon to help thin them out. There's also chard (which never stops growing), lettuce, rocket, tiny fennel and pepper shoots, and onions. I love seeing everything springing into life 💚

Some vintage french ribbon and thread I photographed in one of our (many) housesits. I'm not doing a lot of sewing right now (I'm unfortunately without my sewing machine) but I can't help being drawn towards vintage ribbon, thread, fabric and buttons. I'd so much rather reuse, recycle and repurpose than buy new.

I'm definitely a notebook person - I can count nine on my desk right now (eleven if you count two sketchbooks). This one here is one of my favourites where I keep a record of all my aromatherapy recipes for blends and potions.

We're getting to the end of the daffodils now but they've been cheery companions these last couple of months 💛

Finally - spring has sprung and the blossom is here! The plum and cherry trees have just started blossoming this week. There are already ten baby calves and the pond is full of life - coypus, ducks, coots & frogs. Is it just me or has it felt like a long winter...?

Day 21 of #21daysinmyartworld and the prompt is Big Dream. My big dream is to have a studio space of my own. Somewhere I can have a painting wall and it doesn't matter if I get paint splats all over he floor.

I've shown a screenshot from a page on my website that describes what I imagine my own studio could feel like. We're hoping to buy a house this year and if that happens I'll be making sure there's room for a little studio 💕

And after a bit of a hiatus.... I'm back with day 20 of #21daysinmyartworld and the prompt 'Favourite Technique' which is probably using collage as part of my paintings.

There's something so weirdly calming about ripping up pieces of paper and then sticking them onto a painting. I'm sure that's why so many people do it. It takes me into some kind of trance, I think. And it's also good when you're procrastinating as it's something for your hands to do while your mind wanders. If I'm ever feeling anxious then just give me a coffee and an old magazine and let me start ripping it up. I know it sounds slightly unhinged but it works every time :)

Day 18 & 19 in #21daysinmyartworld - Celebrate & From the archives:

This is a little bouquet to celebrate five years of happily making art :) This is from the archives of my first few paintings and I think it's the first painting I ever did in acrylics. I like it because it's nice and loose and lively. I wasn't overthinking things too much in those days :)

Day 17 of #21daysinmyartworld - Largest Painting

I think this is probably my largest painting so far. It's about one metre square and is on a piece of board I found in the garage. I think it also started as a way of using up paint in my palette and then it just got added to.

I like the energy and movement of working on big pieces and I'd love an art wall to hang up some huge canvases and really let go with them :)

Yikes! I haven’t blogged for ages

My poor blog has been sadly neglected over the last couple of years. I can’t quite believe it’s almost two years ago that we headed off for our Copenhagen adventure. A summer of discovery and sea swimming. Coffees and Danish pastries. Since then life has been marked in six month Read more…
